On Dec. 22, at approximately 6:45 p.m., an off-duty Battlefords RCMP officer noticed a suspicious vehicle parked at a local gas station. The officer further recognized the people in the vehicle as being prolific offenders in the community.
The officer contacted the Battlefords detachment, who quickly located the vehicle and checked on the occupants.
Officers determined the two occupants of the vehicle had outstanding warrants and were subsequently arrested without incident. Further investigation revealed the occupants were in possession of a large amount of Canadian currency, bear spray, a loaded firearm, and a large amount of suspected cocaine. The vehicle was seized for further investigation.
The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
