Battlefords Publishing is the latest entity to step forward to support the Credit Union CUPlex.
The company, which publishes the Battlefords News-Optimist and Regional Optimist newspapers and newsoptimist.ca online, is pledging a $20,000 donation towards the recognition wall of the curling facility.
The contribution by Battlefords Publishing consists of $10,000 cash and another $10,000 of in-kind sponsorship. The company is being recognized in the "supporter" category.
"As a community newspaper, we are proud to support this important community project," said publisher Alana Schweitzer.
"Battlefords Publishing, and the newspapers that merged to form the company, have long enjoyed the support of readers and advertisers. This is an excellent opportunity to acknowledge that support and to participate in this exciting move towards the future."
The donation continues the fundraising momentum for the CUPlex project as they continue to receive contributions towards the various components of the facility. Earlier this week, the fundraising committee announced that over $6.5 million has been committed to their fundraising campaign so far, leaving them less than $3.5 million away from reaching their $10 million fundraising target.
Fundraising co-chair Heath Gabruch said the donation "goes to show that the whole community is behind this project."
He added, "everyone is stepping up to the plate in really big ways and it's really nice to see. It goes to show that the community can come together and meet the target we are trying to achieve."
