There may not be rides home courtesy of Operation Red Nose and their volunteers this holiday season, but that doesn鈥檛 mean they鈥檒l be idle this winter.
They have launched an online awareness campaign from Dec. 1-31 under the theme 鈥淭ake the reins for your safety!鈥�
According to their news release, Operation Red Nose has created an online awareness campaign which invited people 鈥渢o keep the Red Nose spirit alive during the month of December by taking the reins for your safety. Go to and explore the dazzling range of festive and informative tools such as: mocktail recipes, tips to prevent a friend from driving impaired, and distinctive accessories for your designated driver.鈥�
鈥淥peration Red Nose has become an important part of the Holidays, says Mr. Jean-Marie De Koninck, Founding President of Operation Red Nose in a statement. 鈥淪ince 1984, hundreds of organizations have hosted our program in their community. This year, we are counting on you to keep the tradition of sound decisions alive. Plan to get home safe and become an Operation Red Nose Ambassador with your colleagues, friends, and family. Together, let us take the reins for our safety.鈥�
鈥淭his year has presented many new challenges, but one thing remains constant: the need to prevent impaired driving,鈥� said Minister Responsible for SGI Don Morgan in a news release. 鈥淚 applaud Operation Red Nose for adapting its 2020 campaign and driving that message home, while also continuing to support community organizations.鈥�
Operation Red Nose is a non-profit organization active in over 100 communities across seven provinces including in the Battlefords. Its mission is to encourage responsible behaviour regarding impaired driving, with money raised redistributed to local organizations dedicated to youth and amateur sports. In the Battlefords, KidSport is the charity receiving the funds.
