On Aug. 1, at approximately 12:20 p.m., Meadow Lake/Green Lake RCMP was dispatched to a report of a shooting at a residence on Beaver Road in Green Lake.
An adult male with a gunshot wound was found outside of the residence and was transported to hospital with serious injuries. There is no update on his condition.
Investigation determined that the suspect, an adult male, had left the scene in a vehicle. Officers soon located the vehicle and attempted to stop it, but the driver did not immediately comply. Officers followed the vehicle until it pulled over on Highway 55.
The driver, Scott Maurice, 28,of Saskatoon, SK was arrested and charged with:
- aggravated assault
- discharge firearm with intent
- possess weapon for a dangerous purpose
- unlicensed possession of a firearm
- obstruct peace officer
- fail to comply with demand for a breath sample
Maurice appeared in court on Aug. 3, and was remanded in custody untilhis next court appearance.
The passenger of the vehicle, Marcella Esperanse, 26,of Beardy’s First Nation, was arrested and charged with:
- possession of Schedule I drug (cocaine)
- possession of a firearm/weapon/ammunition in a motor vehicle
Esperanse will appear in court on Aug. 30.
Officers from the North Battleford Provincial General Investigation Section, North Battleford Forensic Identification Section and Saskatchewan RCMP Police Dog Services assisted in the investigation.
