MEADOW LAKE — Kirt and Terri Prete have made a $500,000 donation to Meadow Lake’s Co-op Community Builder Campaign.
In a press release, the City of Meadow Lake calls the contribution a “significant milestone,” in the fundraising push for the ongoing development of the Co-op Centre, which the city says is destined to become a central hub for community life and recreation in Meadow Lake.
The Event Centre within the Co-Op Centre will be named “Legacy Hall.” This naming celebrates not just a financial contribution, but Kirt and Terri Prete's ongoing support and connection to the Meadow Lake community as founding members. It also provides an opportunity in the future for other members of the community to contribute.
“Kirt and Terri’s contribution is about more than recognition, it's about creating a place where important community memories are formed,” the city press release states.
Legacy Hall will serve as a venue for community events and gatherings. In line with Kirt and Terri’s vision, Legacy Hall is designed not just as a space but as a testament to community spirit and co-operation. A plaque will be placed at the entrance, detailing the story and purpose behind the naming of the Event Centre. This will set a precedent for future contributions, where donors can add their names and share their stories, emphasizing personal and heartfelt contributions over conventional recognition.

“Their contribution goes beyond monetary support; it's a testament to their belief in the power of community and importantly, legacy. This is a space that will be used and cherished for generations.
“As we move closer to our fundraising goal of $6,000,000, we are inspired by the Prete family leadership and call on others in the community to contribute towards this cause. Each contribution brings us one step closer to realizing a community space that embodies the spirit and aspirations of Meadow Lake.”
