A house that was placarded under the Public Health Act is being spared demolition, at least for now.
Public Health recommended the house at 1511-105th St. be demolished. Administration was planning to issue a demolition order on the property.
However, those plans have been put on hold, as Public Health has since amended its decision and recommends allowing the house to be repaired.
The house was one damaged by flooding during the storm that hit North Battleford in July. At Monday night's council meeting, where the issue was discussed, Mayor Ian Hamilton indicated the house was placarded after the flood.
In a memorandum dated October 19, City Building Inspector Jerry Wintonyk indicated the owners of the house submitted an application for damages under the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program and they were advised they were eligible for funding to repair the building.
Wintonyk added the City will be working with Public Health and the owners to ensure all the necessary repairs were completed.
The update came in response to an inquiry about the property's status at the municipal services committee meeting the previous week.
The property is located right next door to where another house was recently demolished. The house, at 1501- 105th St., was placarded by Public Health and was demolished on orders from city council earlier this year.
