Saskatchewan country musician, Chris Henderson, has always tried to wave the Saskatchewan flag.
That was the goal for his recent Organization of Saskatchewan Arts Councils (OSAC) 2017-2018 concert series tour.
Henderson got to do that in Humboldt on June 1 as he wrapped up the Humboldt Area Arts Council series at the Humboldt and District Gallery.
Henderson was thankful for the opportunity to reschedule the show originally scheduled for April 14.
鈥淎s Saskatchewan residents, we have grieved and celebrated with the community since April, and looked forward to bringing the show to town at the beginning of June,鈥 he said in an email prior to the show.
With two of his previous albums being produced right in Saskatchewan and Henderson still calling Saskatchewan home, the tour was a way for himself and the band to show that Saskatchewan pride.
There have been times where Henderson does not see that pride from the music industry with people noting Toronto and Vancouver as two of the places to make it big.
Henderson says he sees incredible support from the prairies and being from Saskatchewan does not mean that homegrown musicians cannot go far with their music.
鈥淚鈥檝e never worried about, oh, you鈥檙e from Saskatchewan, you can鈥檛 take over the world. That鈥檚 not necessarily true. I鈥檝e see lots of acts that are from this province that have done super well nationally and internationally. To me, it鈥檚 something to be proud of.鈥
Henderson can proudly say that he is a busy Saskatchewan musician with May 31 being a big day with the release of a new music video and single. Henderson is still on the road with many concert and festival dates throughout the summer.
The Humboldt and District Museum and Gallery staff are now looking forward to their next series with June 1 also being the night they announced their new line up for their 2018-2019 concert series
The series will kick off with Ghostboy on Oct.18 sponsored by HSA, and then continue on into November with Ian Sherwood on Nov. 2 sponsored by Behiel, Will and Biemans Law Office.
