Pull out your wallets and open your gift bags because the Humboldt & District Museum and Gallery is once again holding their annual Festival of Wreaths fundraiser.
For the first time ever, the festival opening will be held at the new gallery on Nov. 13. By Dec. 4, everything will be sold. The Friends of the Museum, who are sponsoring the event, are accepting a wide variety of donations including (but not limited to) wreaths, trees, centerpieces, artwork, photography, gingerbread houses, food items, etc.
"Every single year, we're surprised at the new ideas," said Jennifer Hoesgen, the museum's curator. "Some have been doing it for 15 years and they're still coming in with new ideas."
This year, all of the items that are donated will be put online with the donor's name and a brief description of the item so that people can bid on it online.
Although the museum has volunteers out canvassing for donations, people can still bring in their own items to the museum before Nov. 7. People can request to have 25 per cent returned from the sale of their item, but proceeds will go towards art and cultural programming and exhibit development.
