Local sculptors Mariann Taubensee and Ellery Russell along with the rest of the ReArtCycle Group are in the spotlight at the Recycled art show: "Haven't we met?" in Saskatoon.
The show opened with an artists' reception where politicians and city re-cyclers were in attendance.
Saskatchewan Community Youth Arts Programming gallery is hosting the month long show inspired by Waste Reduction Week. Five sculptures were commissioned by the Waste Reduction Council made up of five stewardship programs who recycle the items primarily used in the sculptures.
The chosen items were: rubber tires, done by Mariann Taubensee, oil containers by Ellery Russell, plastic milk jugs by Tamara Unroe, paint cans by Ric Pollock and computer/electronic parts by Laurie Afseth.
The recipients were pleased with their commissioned art and will proudly display the imaginative creations in their offices and at conventions after the show ends.
Zoltan Markan of Saskatoon and ReArtCycle also participated in the show with a glass sculpture as well as two plastic inspired wall pieces. Each artist is also showing other pieces as well.
Located at 253-3rd Ave. Â鶹ÊÓƵ in Saskatoon, the show runs until Nov. 12.
