UPDATE 2 The Dekker Centre is now under a temporary restriction of 30 people in the theatre. This new restriction affects how A Very Prairie Christmas with Jeffery Straker will be presented.
鈥淥ur objectives are to keep people safe, while continuing to support the cultivation of arts in our province. We need a bit of time to make leadership decisions for the organization. We thank you for your patience and support as we continue to navigate this changing situation. We will be in touch with all ticketholders as soon as possible,鈥 said the Dekker Centre in an update Wednesday following the province鈥檚 rollout of new COVID-19 restrictions.
UPDATE 1 from the Dekker Centre:The health and safety of our community is our top priority! As COVID-19 cases continue to rise in our area, it is our responsibility to adapt our services and continue to present live performances safely.
As a result, we are making some changes to how we will present A Very Prairie Christmas with Jeffery Straker:
We will not be offering bar service during the show. All patrons who pre-ordered drinks will be contacted for refunds!
We are going to be offering Live Streaming. All ticket holders will be offered the opportunity to watch the show听from the comfort of their own home, if that option works best for them. Next week, we will begin selling additional Live Stream tickets for our community. We will also continue to present with a live audience as long as we are permitted to do so.
Our staff will be reaching out to all ticketholders in the coming days to inform them of these new restrictions and opportunities.听
In the future, we will be offering live streaming to all of our Dekker Centre Presents shows, as well as being able to offer this service to our valued rental clients! Stay Tuned for more details!
We thank you for your patience as we navigate these operational changes.
BACKGROUND: Jeffery Straker is bringing upcoming holiday tour to the Battlefords.
His show is A Very Prairie Christmas and it is in support of his new release This Christmas, due out Friday, Nov. 13.
The show itself is touring several Saskatchewan locations and will be at the Dekker Centre on Sunday, Dec. 6.
According to the promotional material accompanying Straker鈥檚 latest release:
鈥淲ith a folk-roots feel to the EP This Christmas, there鈥檚 a nod to the nostalgia of the holidays through both the song selection and the production. The three-song collection includes two new yuletide originals and 1 classic cover.听Holiday time often conjures up thoughts of 鈥榓nticipation鈥 of the day, of seeing friends and family, and of the visit from Santa.听This Christmas resides there while also touching on new themes 鈥 of new love during the holidays, and of the longing for Jeffery鈥檚 recently departed mother who for years was the foundation of the family and the festive season. Through it all This Christmas leaves the listener on notes of joy and hope 鈥 cornerstones of the season.鈥
