We are once again experiencing some lovely weather with temperatures just below zero and no wind.
I mentioned that winter birds were not abundant up until now. Other bird watchers, however, say that they have had an abundance of birds including red-polls, finches and grosbeaks. Perhaps the birds are not appreciating the presence of so many magpies that seem to frequent my yard.
Terry and René Pike, Wayne and Jane Pike and Dana and Laurie Kobes enjoyed a few weeks in Mexico, returning recently.
Curling is in full swing presently both in bonspiels in Maidstone and Lashburn and provincial tournaments. Jill (Johnston) Shumay, Kara Johnston, Karen Holtby and Jennay Ayrey, a team who have played together frequently, have a good run in the SaskPower, Scotty's Women's Provincial playdowns held in Humboldt. They were, however, defeated in the semi-finals.
Congratulations to Tracey and Mark Oddan of Saskatoon, who were blessed Jan. 29 with the birth of their first child, a baby boy, Carter William Mark Oddan.
Ellen and Maurice Oddan are local grandparents and Agnes Oddan and Helena Pike are local great-grandparents.
Bill Pike spent a couple of days visiting with his niece Laurie and her husband, Dana Kobes at Strathmore, Alta.
