Happy New Year from Swift Mount Light Horse 4-H Club Unit One.

We ended 2010 and began 2011 with a bang. The Unit One members have been busy with project meetings, making halters and developing their record books.

Dec. 11, we had our Christmas party. All members had a great time. It was held at Sunshine Stables. A big thanks to Brenda and Ron Smith for the use of the arena. Members enjoyed themselves riding, playing games and even had a visit with Santa. A potluck supper was shared.

Members of the whole club worked hard together selling tickets for a Christmas basket. The proceeds are going towards two horse teaching clinics for members. The happy winner of the basket was Shelley Kennedy. A special thanks to all who purchased tickets.

Our next draw is for a Valentine's Day basket.

Another activity keeping the members busy was selling 50/50 tickets at Kramer's Big Bid Barn. Thank you to Mr. Kramer, staff and family for having us there.

Our monthly meeting was Dec. 30. Members were excited as they received their new club hoodies with the 4-H emblem.

Jan. 8, Swift Mount was host for District No. 34 curling. A good time was had by all clubs. Door prizes were donated by numerous businesses in town. Members enjoyed the great gifts.

Round Hill Riders had the winning senior team and Mount Hope was the winning junior team. Good luck at provincials.

Don't forget to get your raffle tickets for the Valentine's basket. Proceeds are for the purchase of uniforms.
