Snow is piling up

The snow has piled up during the past week with some falling each day. Fortunately, up until now, we have not had much wind, but the forecast says that is about to change. Perhaps we will be looking forward to blown in paths and roads.

The snow has piled up during the past week with some falling each day. Fortunately, up until now, we have not had much wind, but the forecast says that is about to change. Perhaps we will be looking forward to blown in paths and roads. Monday morning we were experiencing a temperature of -27 C. We have not seen much sunshine for several days.

This week we learned of the death of Arthur Lamb, a former district resident. Arthur passed away Jan. 11 at the age of 77 years. He passed away suddenly at Wheatland Lodge in Strathmore, Alta. where he had been living since 2004.

Arthur attended elementary school at Forest Bank and high school in Maidstone. Following his school years he tried many jobs then trained as an electrician, a trade he followed during his working years. He and his wife, Marge, travelled extensively. Arthur worked at many of their destinations. They spent time in Fort McMurray, Edmonton, Calgary, Red Deer, Australia and other overseas locations, spending winters in Arizona.

Arthur was talented and had many hobbies including woodworking, silver smithing and working with diamond willow, a hobby he was still following at the time of his death.

Arthur's congenial nature and sense of humour will be missed by his two sons, a granddaughter, sisters Enid and Helen, other relatives and many friends to whom we extend our sympathy.

Arthur's ashes, along with those of his wife, Marge, who passed away in 2010, will be buried at a later date.

Eileen and Keith Evans attended the annual Squair holiday party held Jan. 1 at Milleton hall. A feature of this year's party was the celebration of Ernie Squair's 85th birthday and Cynthi (Squair) Donald's 86th birthday.
