Local organizers are again offering a unique shopping opportunity to residents of the Battlefords and area.
Ten Thousand Villages, which sells hand crafted goods made by artisans from developing countries, will be open Oct. 26 to 30 at 1266 - 100th St. This is the building next to the Mennonite Community Closet.
"Selling their goods and telling their stories to North America allows us to connect with these people and their families in a very real way," states a press release provided by organizer Ruby Harder.
Ten Thousand Villages embraces the concept of using fair trade to bring hope to the poor, develop sustainable relationships, pay fair prices and reinforce cultural traditions while having sensitive environmental awareness.
"By supporting fair trade you have the ability to make change to this world, give dignity and purpose to those who would otherwise be unemployed, disadvantaged or marginalized," the release states.
