Rose Gill offers pleasant accommodations for seniors

Mayfair News: Longtime residents relocate to Lloydminster.

MAYFAIR — An afternoon strawberry tea is a good event for people to get out and have a visit and a mouth-watering treat. The tea Rose Gill seniors’ lodge in Rabbit Lake hosted last Friday drew in a fair-sized crowd. Thank you to everyone who made the effort and the drive on mostly muddy grid roads to help with this fundraiser and the volunteers who assisted staff. Many took a tour of the building and were impressed with the brightly decorated private rooms, dining room, large TV and activities room along with a couple of bright visiting rooms with comfortable seating amongst many thriving houseplants. In the enclosed outdoor courtyard, away from the nasty winds, are beautiful flourishing flowers and a small vegetable garden.

Local Grade 12 students who are graduating from high school include Ethan Holmes, Emily Toews and Christopher Fournier. Ethan is the son of Eric Holmes and attends school in Spiritwood. Teresa Toews’ daughter Emily attends Hafford Central, as does Christopher, son of Heather Welsh and Richard Fournier. Best wishes for all these young people who have learned the skills to become successful adults. Work hard, enjoy your activities and try to have a positive outlook on life. Your parents and grandparents are only a phone call away.

Ellyn and Buck Scotton, longtime farmers near Mayfair, have recently relocated to Lloydminster to be closer to their family. Ellyn was the kindergarten teacher for many years and served in executive positions with different organizations. Both of them volunteered extensively and will be greatly missed. The new owner will appreciate the well-kept yard. Wishing them many more happy retirement years in their newly purchased home.
