Paynton Farmers' Market Co-op soon to start 2011 season

It is that time of year again, the time we would like to turn into spring. With the anticipation ofspring comes the need to get out of our homes and enjoy the community around us.

It is that time of year again, the time we would like to turn into spring. With the anticipation ofspring comes the need to get out of our homes and enjoy the community around us. The Village and RM of Paynton held their annual ratepayers' supper and meeting and had Yellowhead Ramblers entertain the masses. I understand the evening was enjoyable although I could not attend thanks to a lovely little stomach bug.

There is still the chance to get out and see our neighbours though - May 7 at Paynton Gym. The Paynton Farmers' Market Co-op is up and running for another year. This will be the 4th Annual Spring Show and Sale to be held at Paynton Gym. Many vendors come out of the woodwork every year, some of whom actually have woodwork, like tiny Berthelot with his beautiful birdhouses, feedersand other wooden wonders. Vera Vallier is another regular, sharing her ceramics and fresh farm eggs, Log Cabin quilts, and baking, and conversation if that's all you are interested in. Mariann Taubensee always throws in some WOW factor with her amazing art work and Ellery Russell Photography puts on a bright and colourful show.Vinessa Currie-Foster brings her selection of loose and compressed teas, and always has some brewed for sampling. Home-based business' like VictorianEpicure Spices and Tupperware are also a usual addition to the array of baking, bedding plantsand homemade goodies. Don't forget about the Library either; the Library ladies will be serving lunch for the duration of the event which runs from 11 - 2. All proceeds will go directly to the Paynton Public Library and there will be a draw for a re-usable shopping bag filled with goodies from each vendor at the Spring Show. See you there.
