Improvements to centre approved

The monthly meeting was held at the centre Jan. 7 with poor attendance. President Margaret MacEacherna and secretary Jean Hartman were present. Treasurer Denise Newton was absent. Vera Hitz gave the financial report. A minute of silence was observed to remember seven members who passed away in 2010 - Alice Martin, Gwen Evans, Edith Cochrane, Leona Utri, Marjorie Stewart, Edith Foster and Jim Mitchell.

Approval for a matching grant for a water purification system to be installed by Maidstone Plumbing and Heating and the installation of a new high rise toilet were approved.

Posters are up advertising a chili on a bun and desert luncheon to be held at noon Jan. 19.

Date for the January-February potluck birthday supper was set for Feb. 18 at 6 p.m. with entertainment to follow.

Kaiser was played Jan. 10 with Lil McMillan hosting and providing lunch. High score went to Dorothy Schwartz and low to Hettie Richardson.
