MAYFAIR ‑ We are experiencing a large dumping of snow. A farmers' delight. A white Christmas for sure in the making.

The Hafford Vikings senior boys' six-man football team are crowned provincial champions for the third year in a row. Congratulations to everyone involved to make it a reality. This group of dedicated players deserved this win by a score of 54 to 31 against Carrot River this past Saturday. The weather was reasonable, bringing out a large enthusiastic fan base. The concession was kept busy selling hot food before, during and after the game.

My family Christmas celebration was held this past weekend for various reasons. What if COVID gets really bad again, as last year, and government regulations are enforced? My grandchildren are busy with hockey games, figure skating, gymnastics, swimming, dance lessons and soccer. Some have travel plans in December. My four adult kids and other relatives were available, so, voila, Christmas is now over and done with for another year. There were 26 people, three dogs and two cats coming and going in a 10-hour period.

Victor Kuffert, an independent seed sales representative with Pioneer Hybrid at his business place near Mullingar, had a successful field day this past August. A group of farmers checked the various crops in different plots, then socialized with a great meal and drinks after.
