Everyone knows the drill when summer draws to a fruitful close: back to school shopping and getting kids ready for the new school year.
At John Paul II Collegiate, a safe and inviting school, all the new students were officially welcomed Friday. 'Welcome Grade 8 Day,' hosted by the John Paul Student Representative Council, is an annual event.
At John Paul II Collegiate high school all the new students have been officially welcomed into the school. Welcome Grade 8 Day is hosted by the SRC so the new students will know what to look forward to during the upcoming school year.
The Grade 8 students went about their usual morning, and when lunch rolled around they were served free hamburgers, juice and a snack. All the other students were welcome to join in on the tasty meal for $2.
After lunch all the new students reported back to their period four classroom before being called down to the gymnasium. During the first hour of the afternoon, the SRC hosted some skits and got everybody in the spirit of playing some large group games and activities. A
A frozen t-shirt contest was a success, cooling off participants before the SRC led the way out to the soccer field. Then the real fun began! The Grade 8 students were split into seven groups for some smaller activities and games. Lastly the infamous Pony Dance took place with everybody urging their peers to participate in the whirling dervish of laughter and good fun.
Welcome Grade 8 Day was a fun-filled day at JP II Collegiate that nobody should have missed. To finish off the first week of school, a three day weekend was in store for the entire school body - a perfect way to top it off for everybody to enjoy.
