Christmas carols to greet every new morning and practices for the annual Division 1 concert at Ratushniak Elementary School, brought the spirit of the holidays to the children of Maidstone.

Students were singing and humming the catchy tunes for weeks and Wednesday afternoon and Thursday evening they delighted friends and family members with their talent. The program took weeks of preparation as the groups learned new dances, dialogue and melodies.

The main program was A Bugz Christmas - A Holiday Musical Infestation by John Jacobson and John Higgins.

The kindergarten class performed a short musical skit called A Cobweb Christmas before the main program. It was an adaption of a traditional German tale about the origin of tinsel. The large class portrayed children, animals, a very special auntie and a whole gang of adorable spiders.

Cameras and videos were held still as the proud parents, grandparents and siblings beamed at their little stars.

The Bugz Christmas was a montage of numbers performed by the Grade 1 and 2 classes while the Grade 3 class strung it together with the buggy plot. There were dance numbers with the chorus singing and a performance in the dark with flashlights.

The bugs were cute and did a great job with their lines. The termites didn't mean to wreck Christmas by eating the tree and even the lights but the bugs found a way to celebrate and in the end the Beetles made the party even more fun.
