MAIDSTONE — Synergy Credit Union’s customer appreciation barbecue was held June 22, a beautifully sunny day. With seating set up on the street, a multitude of community members, including several school classes, enjoyed the meal and outdoor visiting, with a special appearance for the kids by Synergy’s mascot, Fat Cat.

Maidstone Dental celebrated their third anniversary June 24. Despite stormy weather, a good crowd attended the complimentary pancake breakfast. Extras were delivered to the group homes and some elementary school classes. Thank you to the dental team for putting on this event.

Maidstone Seniors’ Drop-In Centre held a potluck lunch and meeting June 24 with eight members and one guest attending. Our current executive is: president, Debbie Sterling; treasurer, Denise Newton; and secretary, Noelle Coulthard.

Booking of the centre is handled by the town of Maidstone (306-893-2373). Cards or other games of choice are played on Mondays from 2 to 4 pm. Katie Granger is program director. A certificate of appreciation for the centre’s donation was received from Telemiracle.

Sharon Ruud shared a picture of Eleanor Hinde receiving her honorary life membership plaque from the seniors’ centre.

Meetings will now be held every second month, on the last Friday, with the next one Aug. 26. Members enjoyed the lunch potluck so much they decided to do this at noon before each bi-monthly meeting. Current and new members are welcome.

Milleton Hall had a great turnout for the “Old Time Picnic” June 26. Gunny sack races, egg races, three-legged races, bones games and a delicious potluck supper made it a memorable community event.

Several graduation ceremonies, field trips and end-of-school events took place over the last month. Congratulations to students from playschool to Grade 12 who have now completed their school year. A huge thank you is extended to all the school staff, bus drivers, parents and others who tend to the well-being of the children in our community year-round.
