On the weekend of Feb. 12, Curtis and Sandra Sutherland attended a Basic Emergency Management seminar. It was hosted by Lashburn and delegates from Lashburn, Marshall and Waseca attended the excellent day and a half course.

Our congratulations to Paige McFadyen, who earned the privilege of being carnival queen at the carnival held in Maidstone last weekend.

Waseca's Centennial Committee is planning a few more fundraisers in the coming weeks for Waseca's 100th anniversary celebration. March 11 will be the first of four pie bingos to be held in the Waseca Community Centre; Sunday, May 1 they will sponsor a walkathon and May 8 a Mother's Day brunch will be held at the Waseca Hall.

The Waseca regular "clean-up" will take place Saturday, April 30. The heritage church is scheduled to get a facelift that day. Watch for posters of the above events.

Our very best wishes to Eva Sutherland, who will celebrate her 90th birthday Feb. 28. Eva is presently residing in Pine Island Lodge and is in good health.

Since Eva spent most of her busy life in Waseca and area, I will be writing a little more of her accomplishments in life in next week's paper. In the meantime, keep that sense of humour in good shape, Eva!

Monday, Feb. 7, several members of the Waseca Quilting group travelled to Meadow Lake to visit a quilting shop. Janet Makey was our driver. We enjoyed lunch as guests of Tracey Calvert.
