Radisson Co-op held their 71st annual meeting March 15 in the Radisson Hall, preceded by a roast beef supper served by the Radisson Recreation Board to 120 people.

Fifty-five stayed for the meeting, chaired by Bill Hosegood. Bryan Clair was the recording secretary.

General manager Robbie Schmidt reported a successful year in 2010 with higher savings and increased pump sales. The card lock installation has been delayed as margins are lower and expenses higher.

The Co-op purchased Fountain's Store which is having good sales, Battleford & District Co-op is delivering fuel and Radisson have sold their fuel truck. They will leave the newly bought store where it is downtown for now and maybe bring in a few more items.

Schmidt thanked his staff - Rob Gust, Terry Fadish, Suren Chetty, Doris Hamp and Kandis Brandrick - for all their dedication and hard work and thanked the board of directors and especially the members as there would be no Co-op without the members.

Schmidt went over the financial statements, reporting sales of $3,186.387, up .6 per cent. Cost of goods was $2,950,150, and increase of .2 per cent resulting in a gross margin of $236,237 which is .1 per cent less than 2009.

Loss from operations was $80,860, which is .3 per cent less than last year so savings before tax and patronage dividends were $183,072 an increase of $14,667 over 2009. Patronage refund from Federated Co-op was $263,932 and dividends distributed to members totalled $123,391, half as cash payout.

Radisson Co-op has 800 members with 557 of those active.

Gustav and Alvin Barth were re-elected to the board and Chris Schultz was elected to replace Bill Hosegood, who resigned after serving 32 years.

Condolences are extended to the family of Betty Williams who passed away at the age of 87 on March 13 at the Spruce Manor Special Care Home in Dalmeny. She is lovingly remembered by her husband Clarence and son Gar (MarieAnne) at Borden and son Ken of Watrous and two granddaughters Tess and Shannon. The memorial service was held March 19 in the Borden Community Centre with Gayle Wensley presiding, Sheila Block the pianist and the Borden United Church provided the lunch.

Borden United Church held a successful St. Patrick's Day luncheon March 17 in the Borden seniors' room with over 40 enjoying homemade soup or stew, bread and cookies along with beverages.

A baby shower was held March 17 in the Borden seniors' room for Adalie Renee Burnett, daughter of Candice and Aaron Balon of Wakaw. Heidi Neufeld welcomed everyone and introduced the head table - Candice, grandma Heather Burnett and great-grandma Jean Hryniuk. The gifts were opened and displayed, along with a cash community gift, Candice thanked everyone and a potluck lunch and beverages were then enjoyed by all those present.

Congratulations to new grandparents - Darrel and Peggy Walker of Borden and Rick and Harlene Simmonds of Speers, on the birth of Liam Arthur. He was born March 13 to Lance and Lindsey Walker of Borden.
