Busy March at Maidstone Senior Centre

A St. Patrick's Day stew and biscuit luncheon was held March 16 with a good attendance. A big thank you goes to all who supplied food and all who attended to make it a success. Following the luncheon, several stayed to play bingo with Margaret MacEachern doing the calling. The loonie pot was won by Dorothy Kissick. Lunch was provided by Dorothy Schwartz and Margaret MacEachern.

Catch the four tens whist was played March 21. High score went to Jean Stewart and low to Margaret MacEachern. Lunch was supplied by Hettie Richardson.

The walk to music exercises organized by Judith Holmberg has been well attended on Tuesday afternoons at 2 p.m. The Thursday evening walks at 7 p.m. have not been so well attended. This will continue until snow and ice have disappeared and it is safe to walk outside once again.

A number of seniors attended the first of the Lenten lunches March 23, hosted by the Lutheran Church and held at the United Church.

Bingo was held March 23 with Margaret MacEachern doing the calling. Lunch was provided by Tillie Linkert.

A number of seniors took part in the Cribbage and Kaiser Tournament on March 26. Winners of the cribbage were Margaret MacEachern and Eva Inkster. Runners up were Mae Hende and Ken Adie. Winners of the Kaiser tournament were Caroline Smith and Dorothy Schwartz. Runners up were Diana Wiltermuth and Shirley Brown. Beef on a bun was available for those who wanted to stay. It was held at the Legion Hall and sponsored by Legion members.

Cribbage was played at the centre March 28 with Jean Hartman providing lunch, assisted by Dorothy Schwartz. High score went to Eva Inkster and low was divided between Jean Hartman and Linda Fiddler. Linda is from Medicine Hall and is visiting her mother, Dorothy Schwartz.
