The Maymont Broomball team captured the bronze at a tournament held in Bruno. Justin Gillatt, a student at Maymont Central, was named to the first all star team.

Seventy-seven kindergarten to Grade Six students participated in Jump Rope For Heart Feb. 11. The students spent the afternoon visiting nine stations set up around the gym, on the stage and in the commons hallway. Each station had a skipping activity that the students participated in. Thank you to the sponsors, the parent volunteers, and the students for making the afternoon a success. Over $1,500 was raised for the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

The school's annual winter Olympics was held Feb. 18. All students and staff were divided into six teams and given a country to represent. Throughout the morning, elementary students took part in curling with ice cream pails, ringette in the gym and speed skating. The high school students played broomball, handball in the gym and hada frozen t-shirt race. The school community council held a hotdog and hot chocolate sale at lunch. The afternoon events involved all students. Events were a team chant contest, human curling, bobsledding, tug of war and a toilet tissue wrap contest. Although the weather was cold, everyone had a good time. It was a great way to go into the winter break. Thanks to the SRC and their advisors, Mrs. Deline and Mrs. Thompson, for planning the day.
