Chris Hodge, a transplant from Ontario, uses acrylics, watercolours, metal sculpture and mixed media to interpret the prairie landscape. He sees a depth in the simplicity of the landscape and uses various methods to recreate this view in his work. By using colour and texture, he is able to portray the essence of his perceptions. His work has been a part of numerous shows and exhibitions and he currently has pieces on display at Willow Studio in Saskatoon.
Hodge recently moved into the arts after retiring from a career as a mechanical technician and programmer. He works part-time at the galleries in North Battleford and is a participant in the Creative Partnerships program operating through the Chapel Gallery. In the first year of this project, he has been able to increase his understanding of specific techniques and skills necessary to be a professional artist. He looks forward to continuing this learning process and further exploring the possibilities with various mediums.
