Karen Kowalski is one of eight local artists taking part in the Creative Partnerships program through the Chapel Gallery. She was an educator in North Battleford for 20 years and she ventured into the art world with pencil and ink drawings 15 years ago. She has also done portraits and pastel works that portray real life scenes and objects.
Through the interaction and group work of the program, Karen has been able to expand her ability as an artist and to explore new directions.
"Being part of this program has inspired me to try new things - like abstract images," said Karen.
he appreciates and understands the gift of art in her life and looks forward to sharing this gift with the wider community.
This untitled image shows Karen's skill level with detailed work and with portraying a sense of light versus dark. It also shows how she is incorporating abstract patterns with realism to create a picture that inspires reflection by the viewer.
