Welcome to Jennifer Pankhurst, a speech language pathologist intern with the Living Sky School Division. She will be working at MCS school until April.

Arts education students have been enjoying the African drum set on loan from the school division office for the month of January. Students have been creating original compositions, and responding to social issues through drum composition.

MCS have begun the FastForWord program, the third school in the school division to have this program. The program consists of a group of products that train the brain to learn faster and more effectively through games accessed on the computer. It helps students develop critical cognitive skills such as memory, attention, processing and sequencing. It is targeted to help build phonological awareness, language and reading skills. Eighteen students have begun this program.

Senior students have been participating in broomball for the last three weeks with the help of a broomball loaner kit, including shoes, brooms, and balls, from the Saskatchewan Broomball Association. A junior kit will be arriving in February.

The Maymont junior broomball team, consisting of players from Maymont, Radisson, and North Battleford, participated in a tournament in Odessa in January. They reached the bronze medal final but unfortunately did not come out victorious. Coach Olchowsky was extremely happy with the improvement in their play.
