Action hoppening in Rabbit Lake

Spring has finally found Rabbit Lake! For a short while the streets become a quagmire of slush and mud but even that is subsiding with each warm day that arrives.

Spring has finally found Rabbit Lake! For a short while the streets become a quagmire of slush and mud but even that is subsiding with each warm day that arrives. Thanks to the men who pushed snow on the street and made ditches so that we are able to get around. After all the flood talk it would seem like just another ordinary spring run-off so far.

With the coming of spring comes spring cleaning. The RM of Round Hill is first out of the chute sporting new soffits and facsia on the RM/post office building. In second place comes Joan Dzialo with new siding on the front of the hotel. Hopefully this is just the beginning of many clean-up and spruce-up activities for the village.

It is always good to be able to announce new things. Rabbit Lake has a new business in town. Kari Dzialo is now creating beautiful all-occasion cakes. So if you are too busy to come up with that perfect cake or if that is not your thing, check in with Kari and see what she can do for you.

Over the winter Scott Dzialo has been working with the Council of the Village of Rabbit Lake to oversee the re-creation of the volunteer fire brigade. Scott has contacted several people in the village who are willing to get this going. We have hoses and suits and assorted equipment but need to get trained in how to use the system. Watch for posters about an upcoming meeting to get organized.

The Rabbit Lake and District Agricultural Association continues to plan for the upcoming Carlton Trail Jamboree. Joining the list of entertainers is Codie Prevost. This jamboree should be fun for all.

It is good to see some of the snowbirds back for the summer season. Jake and Cecilia Krahn, Don and Ardes Petersen and Duane and Jean Massett are all back, with the remainder expected this week.
