Get well wishes go out to Bernie Schliemann who is a patient in Battlefords Union Hospital. It is good to hear that Paul Kobernick is once again well and spending some recuperation time with his son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Jackie in Saskatoon.

Just for something to do the WhistleStop Coffee Shop created a community Valentine's Day raffle. The idea behind the raffle was to buy tickets on the Valentine's Lady Bug. The winner of the "bug" earned the right to throw an arrow at the balloon board to break a balloon. In each of the 27 balloons was the name of a community organization. Each group had three balloons placed randomly on the board. The proceeds of the raffle would go to the organization that was revealed from the broken balloon. Gordon Sherman won a beautiful "ladybug" for his Valentine, Norma, and the sum of $64 was awarded to the Rabbit Lake Recreation Centre. Thanks everyone for participating.
The Rabbit Lake Library hosted a great Valentine's Day supper Sunday night at the Rabbit Lake Seniors Sunrise Circle. There were two sittings, both of which were filled. Mikayla Martens provided enjoyable entertainment on her violin. Door prize winners were Jean McNabb and Hannah Dzialo. A draw for an original print of a woodpecker, drawn and donated by local artist, Donna German, was won by Dave Rodh.
A huge thank you goes out to a couple of young boys who helped one of our seniors who had fallen and become mired in deep snow. Their assistance and their snow machines are greatly appreciated. Just another example of people helping people in a small community and a prime example of what "youth" can do if given a chance.
The annual snowmobile rally is only three weeks away and we are hoping for a great turn out. Ticket sellers are hard at it. The money that is raised at this event is shared among various groups and organizations in the village. Remember that even if you don't want to ride in the rally you can support the village by coming to the supper and the dance. It all happens on March 5.
Feb 24 at 2 p.m. the library is hosting cowboy poet, Ken Mitchell, at the community hall. Check the posters around town for details.
It is encouraging to see younger people of the community stepping up to take on leadership roles. We certainly do not say thank you nearly enough to people who shoulder a lot of responsibility.
Finally it is good to see some of the cabin owners around on weekends to do some snowmobiling or ice fishing. Reports are that the fishing in Meeting Lake is not too bad with perch, jacks and pickerel being taken.
