First of all Happy New Year to one and all from the village of Rabbit Lake. The year has begun with great weather for the many activities in the village.
Skating lessons have begun on Tuesday evenings at the arena. Kody Antoniuk is teaching the lessons and about 45 students are registered. As the rink season has started in earnest there is a need for volunteers to make it go. Check the workers' schedule that is posted in the post office. Come on down to the rink any Tuesday night for a burger and fries, to watch the skating or to get on a bunnock team for a game of bones!
Speaking of volunteers, the hall workers for January are Dave Martens, Marlene Hildebrand, Greg MacKenzie and Dean McNally. For February the team is Bob Lamb, George Hildebrand, Dave Plummer and Troy Moore.
As snow slowly accumulates the snowmobiles are beginning to make their debut. A big thanks has to go out to Doug Lamb who has spent hours grooming the Thickwood trail and posting safety signs. Please be sure to leave the signs as they are placed to help ensure a safe ride for all trail users.
Fish shacks are beginning to dot the northern shore of Meeting Lake. So far I have not heard of any huge fish being caught but the season is young!
