HUMBOLDT – The City of Humboldt’s cultural services, with funding through Culture Days, in partnership with Arts Humboldt, has announced three fun and educational cultural events with the globe-trotting, Saskatoon-based musician, Wilbur Sargunaraj.
“Wilbur has a truly fascinating career - he travels all over the world and makes new friends. From Uranium City to Auckland and that’s just this year. Wilbur forges meaningful connections with people across cultural divides and we are so excited to bring him to Humboldt for three events over Oct. 4 to 5 as part of our Culture Days celebration,” said Rachel Wormsbecher, museum supervisor.
On the afternoon of Friday, Oct. 4, Wilbur will be giving a free concert for school at Jubilee Hall.
“Wilbur’s high-energy performance will get kids up on their feet and dancing while they learn useful tips about how to make friends with people who are different from them.”
That evening at the gallery, there will be a book launch for Wilbur’s newest book, Exploring CQ. Hear stories from Wilbur’s global adventures, with a focus on how to use cultural intelligence to form better relationships with neighbours next door and around the world.
Finally, on the morning of Saturday, Oct. 5, Wilbur will be running a cricket tutorial and scrimmage in Glenn Hall Park. Bring water, comfy clothes, and the desire to learn how to play the second most popular game in the world. Or if you already know how to play cricket, show off your skills.
The City of Humboldt is able to provide these events with financial support from SaskCulture and Sask Lotteries.
