Town of Nipawin issues warnings to be aware of needles as snow melts

Warnings to the public are being given to watch for needles in parks, alleys and other areas of the Town to be watchful for.

Discarded needles have become a growing concern in Saskatchewan. They can often be found in parks, near playgrounds, and schools.

NIPAWIN – In a public safety service announcement from the Town of Nipawin to urge residents to be mindful of discarded needles  

“Needles may start appearing as the snow melts. For everyone’s safety, do not pick them up. Please call the numbers listed for proper disposal. Let’s keep Nipawin safe and clean this spring,” a Town of Nipawin public service announcement reads.

The service announcement said discarded needles may begin to appear in alleys, parks, and other public spaces, do not pick up the needles. The Nipawin fire department is trained and equipped to handle safe disposal.” 

Awareness is key in the campaign to keep parks and the entire community safe.
