One confirmed fatality from Melfort structure fire

The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency is working to determine the cause of the fire.

The fire took place at 1:40 p.m. on Sept. 11.

MELFORT – On Sept. 11, the Melfort department responded to a structure fire at 1:40 p.m.

Shaun Stewart, Director of Protective Services and Fire Chief for the City of Melfort, said they responded with Command 221, Rescue 221, Engine 223, and Tanker 221.

There was one confirmed fatality, said Stewart.

An investigation into cause and origin commenced the next morning by the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA), the Melfort Fire Department was there to assist the SPSA as they were the lead investigation team.

The cause of the fire was undetermined at the date this article was published.
