Northeast Co-ops feel good on Fuel Good day

Since its launch in 2017, more than $4.31 million dollars has been raised through Fuel Good Day.

Beeland Co-op was able to raise $3,708.41, Parkland Co-op raised $6,279.66 and Prairie North raised $10,000.

NORTHEAST – Vehicles were lined up filling up their gas tanks on Sept. 17, to have their portion of gas donated to local charities. 

Since 2017, Fuel Good Day was launched and the Co-op donates a minimum of five cents from every litre of fuel sold at participating Co-op gas bars to a local charity or non-profit organization. Fuel Good Day takes place in September at more than 400 CO-OP® gas bars throughout British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and northwestern Ontario. 

Terri Larsen, Marketing Manager for Prairie North Coop said, “In the six years that it has been running, Co-op’s Fuel Good Day has raised more than $3.65 million for over 800 local organizations and was nominated for the Philanthropic Leadership Award from the Retail Council of Canada.” 

Since its launch in 2017, more than $4.31 million dollars has been raised through Fuel Good Day and has gone to over 870 local organizations, supporting the communities they serve.  

Melissa Christianson, Marketing and Communications Manager for Beeland, Parkland and Carrot River Coops  said the final numbers for this year which includes the barbecue funds for Beeland Co-op was $3,708.41and Parkland Co-op raised $6,279.66  

Prairie North Coop raised in the one day almost $10,000.  These proceeds will go to the Archerwill fire department. Beeland Coop donated their proceeds to the Jack and Jill Preschool in Tisdale, Bjorkdale Skating Rink and the Arborfield Fire Department. Parkland Coop donated their proceeds to the Hudson Bay Community School and Porcupine Plain Comprehensive School.  

Barbecues were held in Archerwill, Kelvington, Naicam, St, Brieux, Melfort, Tisdale, Porcupine Plain and Hudson Bay.  

Christianson said, “Fuel Good Day wouldn’t be possible without the support of Co-op members and customers. We want to thank our communities for supporting Fuel Good Day and our local organizations this year.”
