Bjorkdale News: Playschool holds graduation

As well, the Bjorkdale travel club is preparing to go to Europe, Bjorkdale School is hosting a supper and a bylaw enforcement officer will be coming to the village.

BJORKDALE — The Little Valley Playschool held their graduation on Thursday, June 16. Brianna Davidson and Mason Desrosiers were celebrated and will be head off to Kindergarten next fall.

Briana received the “Good Worker” award and Mason was awarded the “Good Manners”. Playschool teacher Carol Tomyn has another wonderful year. Harper Kneller was also in playschool this year but was unable to be at the graduation ceremony.

In less than 15 days, the Bjorkdale travel club will be jet setting to Europe for an adventure that will make memories for them to last a life time. This trip was originally scheduled in April 2020 but the COVID-19 Pandemic put an abrupt halt to their plans. The crew of 10 kids and adults will be leaving on July 4 and returning the 15th of July. This trip focus’s on Canada’s Battlefields and will be travelling to Amsterdam, Vimy Region, Normandy Region, Paris, France. A few highlights will be Anne Franks house, Flanders Field, Juno Beach, Vimy Ridge and the Eiffel Tower to name a few.

The Village of Bjorkdale recently received a June is Recreation and Parks Month grant that will be bringing the Tisdale Day Camp to Bjorkdale with there climbing wall. This got postponed due to rain and will be schedule for Thursday, June 23 from 3 – 6 p.m.

The Bjorkdale School is hosting a supper for a few individuals who have been a part of the Bjorkdale School for several years. Sherry Fredsberg, Jordann Kovach and Helen and Sherman Babcock will be given a farewell for all their years of service. Supper will be a silver collection and all money raised will go to Alicia Orosz, who is battling cancer.

The Village of Bjorkdale wishes to inform the public of Drug test kits and Naloxone kits are available for free at the Tisdale and Hudson Bay hospitals. People who want them can call ahead of time to Mental Health Addiction Services at 1-306-873-3760 to request and anyone in the Mental Health department will provide them. No questions asked.

Harm Reduction supplies include: Drug Testing strips, Injection supplies, and Naloxone kits. They are available by connecting with Mental Health & Addiction Services at 1-306-873-3760 or coming into outpatients.

The Village of Bjorkdale has contracted a Bylaw Enforcement Officer (LM Bylaw Enforcement) to do an inspection of all properties within the Village of Bjorkdale for Bylaw No.1-12 Nuisance yards. In the event, a contravention has been noted, the homeowner will receive correspondence from this company and steps to rectify. All inquires should be directed to LM Bylaw Enforcement.
