The Bjorkdale skating rink held its first first Friday Fun Skate of the year. More than 10 kids attended.

The Bjorkdale Public Library is organizing art classes on Jan. 19 and Jan. 26 from 1 – 3:30 p.m. with Beth Bentz as the instructor.

Participants will be creating pieces called “snow” and “Rock, Trees, and Water.” If you have your own supplies the cost is only $20 and $30 if you have your own. Contact the library to register.

The library is also hosting a hanging basket fundraiser. Pre-order your 12 in hanging basket by Feb. 9. Cost is $40 per basket and the net proceeds benefit the Bjorkdale Public Library. Contact Ashley at the Library at 886-2119 if your interested.

The first Friday Fun Skate had over 10 kids in attendance. Abby Van Oirschot is the leader again this year and it looks to be another successful program. The rink will be open for public skating and shiny every Friday from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. unless otherwise posted.

The combined under 11 Bjorkdale/Zenon Park/Arborfield hockey team will be playing this Friday, Jan 20th at 7pm against Kinistino. Stop by for a burger and some hockey action. The Bjorkdale under 9 team will be playing against Kinistino on Sunday, January 22 at 11am.

The Bjorkdale Curling rink is hosting their first curling bonspiel of the year on Jan. 20 and 21. Contact Vern at 873-0450 to register a team.

The snowmobile trails are getting used a lot since the trail now comes through Bjorkdale. The Valley Inn had many sleds stop in throughout the Christmas break. Snowmobilers are making good use of the trails around our area.
