Ashley Thevenot rink places 3rd at the 2025 Prairie Pinnacle

Ashley Thevenot rink places third at the 2025 Prairie Pinnacle curling championship in Kindersley.

NORTHEAST – Ashley Thevenot, who curls out of the Nutana Curling Club, had another strong run at the Viterra Prairie Pinnacle, formerly the Viterra Scotties Tournament of Hearts.

Thevenot placed third this year in the Viterra Prairie Pinnacle. Previously, she was the third for skip Skylar Ackerman, who won the tournament in 2024. This year, Thevenot skipped her own team to the tournament with third Brittany Tran, 31, second Taylor Stremick, 24, lead Kaylin Skinner, 27, and coach Susan O’Connor.

“It seemed like the natural transition when we decided what direction we were going after Skylar decided to step back. I skipped all of my junior years and enjoy the strategy and last-shot making,” Thevenot said.

Thevenot was formerly in Melfort and has since moved to Warman with her fiancé. She still enjoys going back to Saint Front, where her family lives and where she is from. Saint Front is a small hamlet 35 minutes south of Tisdale.

Thevenot competed in events across Canada. “Our season was filled with several world tour events, as well as some provincial tour events. We won two competitions this year—our first event in Morris, Man., as a new team, and the Nutana SWCT event. Skylar Ackerman spared for Tran in this event while she was away competing in a mixed doubles Olympic qualifier.

“With a busy fall season, we accumulated enough Canadian Tour Ranking System (CTRS) points to qualify for provincials directly, earning a No. 2 seeded berth.”

In Thevenot’s second year playing in the women’s circuit, she placed third. She went 5 and 3 in the round-robin standings, beat Team Barker in the 3 vs. 4 game, and then lost to Team Martin in the semifinal.
