Wilhelmina "Mina" Vickerson February 29, 1924 - February 7, 2011The death of Wilhemina "Mina" (nee Millar) Vickerson of Watson, occurred at her residence on February 7th, 2011. She was 86 years of age. Mina was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, on February 29th, 1924, to John and Sarah (nee Marshall) Millar. In March 1925, when Mina was a one-year old infant, the family left Ireland and immigrated to Canada. They arrived in Watson, Saskatchewan, on March 29th, 1925, and settled in the Iron Spring School District, north of Watson, and farmed. Mina attended Iron Spring School and attained her Grade 8 education. She then continued to work and help at home on the farm. On June 25th, 1955, she married George Vickerson. Together they farmed in the Spalding district. In June of 1971, George died. Mina moved to Watson to take care of her brothers, William and Sandy, until their deaths. Mina continued to make Watson her home where she enjoyed gardening, cooking and garage sales. She supported the community of Watson always purchasing tickets and making donations for all of the various fundraisers. She was a concerned and caring lady. Mina will be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews: Betty Fetter of Air Ronge; Donald (Nancy) Fetter of North Carolina; Judy (Bill) Grant of Livingston, BC; Sharon Fetter of Humboldt; Bernie Kucheran of BC; Amy Millar of California; John, Sally, Judy, Jim, Bill, and Mary Millar and their spouses; her husband George's family members: Wayne Heaslip and Linda Radies and numerous great nieces and nephews; and long-time friends and neighbours, Jackie and Doug Buhs and family Curtis Buhs and Jennifer Buhs (fiancé Blair Wourms). She was predeceased by her husband George Vickerson; parents John and Sarah Millar; brothers and sisters: James Millar I, William Millar, Sandy Millar, Thomas (Amy) Millar, Bert (Edith) Millar, James Millar II and Dorothy (Paulus) Fetter; one nephew, Thomas Fetter and two nieces, Patsy Kucheran and Dorothy Millar. The Funeral Service for Mina took place at Trinity United Church, Watson, on Saturday, February 12th, 2011, at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Rev. Al Hingley. Others taking part were: Laurie Sproule, organist; Jennifer Buhs and Leanne Fetter, readers. Honorary pallbearers were Chris Fetter, Brent Fetter, Warren Fetter, Curtis Buhs, Arnold Eggerman and William Hinderks, and all others who shared in Mina's life. The urn bearers were Jackie and Doug Buhs. Interment followed at Watson Public Cemetery. Memorial Donations may be directed to the Quill Plains Centennial Lodge Heritage Garden Fund.
