Theresa G. Biemans
August 21, 1932 - December 14, 2012
The death of Mrs. Theresa G. (nee Sengers) Biemans of Quill Plains Centennial Lodge, Watson, SK, occurred at her residence on Thursday, December 14, 2012. She was 80 years of age. Theresa was born on August 21, 1932, to Theodorus and Catherine (nee Levering) Sengers at Heiloo, Holland. In June 1954, she boarded a ship from Rotterdam and, 11 days later, arrived in Little Quebec. From there, she travelled by train to Winnipeg and the next day, continued to her destination, Kamsack, SK, where her sponsor lived and operated a bakery. It was there Theresa met Hank Biemans who had also emigrated from Holland. On May 11, 1955, Theresa and Hank were married at Kamsack. They began their new life together at Watson, where they purchased and operated their family business, the Watson Bakery, and raised a family of four sons. Theresa kept very busy as a homemaker for her family, working at the bakery, and taking an active interest in her community. As well as helping Hank with his community commitments, she was a volunteer with the Boy Scouts organization, the Marching Band, Watson Museum, Town Cemetery, Care-a-Van Society, Welcome Wagon, and Quill Plains Lodge. In their leisure time, Theresa and Hank enjoyed traveling, often going on bus tours to relax and sightsee. Particularly meaningful excursions were the several trips they made back to Holland, where they could renew acquaintances with family and friends. Theresa will be lovingly remembered by her four sons, nine grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren: Charles (Debra) Biemans of Englefeld and family, Ryan (Amber) Biemans of Humboldt and children Grace, Jack and Emma, and Karma (Chad) Knittig of Annaheim and children Edward, Anna and Alynne, Cheryl (Phil) Steil and Nicole Biemans, all of Saskatoon; Ted (Cathy) Biemans of Watson and family, Shawna (Kent) Fetter of St. Albert, AB, and children Ryley and Reese, Dean (Erin) Henrikson of Foam Lake, and children Jacey and Tylan, and TJ Biemans of LaRonge; Ron (Sheri) Biemans of Watson; and Rob (Jen) Biemans of Kanata, ON, and family, Jonathan and Tyler; four sisters: Cecilia Groen, Johanna Kok, Dora Visser and Anna Bloedjes, all of Holland; and by numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Hank Biemans; parents, Theodorus and Catherine (nee Levering) Sengers; a grandson (in infancy); a great-granddaughter (in infancy); and by seven siblings. The Prayer Service for Theresa was held at Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Watson, on Monday, December 17, 2012, at 7:30 p.m., led by Wanda Bryce and Brad Gaetz.
