Theresa Bevan passed away peacefully at the Shellbrook Hospital on January 13, 2014 at the age of 91. She was born on the farm in the Sinnett area in July 1922. She went to Brindle School and completed her high school by correspondence. In 1940 she was accepted into the nursing program at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She graduated June 1943. She worked at St. Michael's Hospital in Cudworth, Watrous Union Hospital, and St. Elizabeth Hospital. She retired from nursing in 1971, when she and her mother Catherine moved to Big River to be closer to Lucy and Gilbert and family. She was actively involved with the church, picking berries, pine cones, knitting and crochet, crafts as well as taking care of her mother who lived to be 102. She was a Matron for the RCMP in Big River from Feb. 1975 to June 2012. She retired again and moved to the Debden Heritage Manor. She will be dearly missed by her nephews and niece; Leo (Doreen) Proulx; Clarence (Jennifer) Proulx, their children Julien & Lucinda; Richard (Florence) Proulx; Jerome (Wendy) Proulx, their children Michelle and daughter Adelle, Roland (Liz) and their daughter Mia; Cyril (Therese) Proulx, their children Amanda (Brent) Risling and their daughters Sadie and Sophie, Melanie (Peter) Stoddart, Lisa (Mitchel) Scherger, Adrien Proulx, Emma Proulx; Dorothy Proulx and daughter Heather. She was predeceased by her parents Stephen and Catherine Bevan, her sister and brother in-law Lucy & Gilbert Proulx, as well as a great niece Giselle Proulx. Mass of Christian Burial for Theresa took place on Friday, January 17, 2014 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Big River with father Sebastian Kunnath as Celebrant. Organist was Laura Wilson, hymns Vivian Zinovich and the Big River Community Choir, and Honor Guard was the Big River RCMP. Interment took place in the Big River Cemetery. In lieu of tributes, memorial donations may be made in memory of Theresa to the Lakewood Lodge Auxiliary, Parkland Integrated Health Centre, or to the Debden Heritage Manor.
