Scholastica "Lottie" PlemelFebruary 10, 1917 - April 9, 2012
The death of Mrs. Scholastica "Lottie" (nee Knafelc) Plemel of Good Shepherd Villa, Prince Albert, SK, (and formerly of Saskatoon, SK), occurred at her residence on Monday, April 9, 2012. She was 95 years of age. Lottie was born on February 10, 1917, to Leopold and Josephine (nee Zupancic) Knafelc in Watson. She was raised on the family farm in the Watson district and attended a rural school in the area. In June 1941, Lottie married Andrew Plemel in Watson. Shortly after, they moved to Ontario where Andrew joined the Canadian Armed Forces and served his country in Europe. After his discharge, he and Lottie returned to Saskatchewan and settled in the Lintlaw/Kelvington district. They resided there for several years, and raised their family of seven, four sons and three daughters. In 1965, Lottie and Andrew moved to Saskatoon, where Andrew was employed. Lottie also worked there as a postal clerk at Earl's Pharmacy. In addition, the Plemels provided room and board for university students. After Lottie was widowed in 2007, she continued to reside in Saskatoon at Columbian Manor until 2009, when she relocated to Good Shepherd Villa in Prince Albert, her home until the present. Lottie will be lovingly remembered by her seven children, 12 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren: Bob (Ursula) Plemel and son Andy, all of Canberra, AU; Randy (June) Plemel and family, Michael (Megan) and children Jordan and Sydney, all of Sherwood Park, AB; Marilyn (Thom) MacNeill and family, Shandra (Drew), and Kate, all of Brandon, MB; Maurice (Grace) Plemel and family, Kevin (Shannon) and children Zoe and Emma, and Kirk (Giselle) and son Connor, all of Humboldt, and Blair (Rochelle), and Megan, all of Saskatoon, SK; Gail Plemel (Andy Millar) of Kelowna, BC; Pat (Elaine) Plemel and family, Ethan and Jocelyn, all of Whitehorse, YT; and Barb (Lorrie) Reid of Prince Albert, SK, and family, Travis (Krissy) and children Kayden and Tazan of North Battleford, SK, and Chelsea and daughter Mitia of Prince Albert; one brother, Joe Knafelc of Humboldt; two sisters: Agnes Gerspacher and Dorothy Doepker, both of Watson; sister-in-law, Louise Knafelc of Watson; and by numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Andrew Plemel; parents, Leopold and Josephine (nee Zupancic) Knafelc; four sisters: Mary (Ben) Wurm, Molly (Frank) Schmid, Gertrude (John) Plemel, and Dolores Knafelc (in infancy); one brother, Stan Knafelc; and by in-laws: Anne Knafelc, Ted Gerspacher and Ed Doepker. The Prayer Service for Lottie was held at Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Watson, on Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at 7:30 p.m., led by Brad Gaetz and Willie Gaudet. The eulogy was delivered by Barb Reid. The Funeral Mass was offered at Sacred Heart R.C. Church on Thursday, April 12, 2012, at 2:00 p.m., celebrated by Fr. Emile April. Others taking part were: Chelsea Reid, cross bearer; Megan Plemel and Kevin Plemel, scripture readers; Kirk Plemel and Blair Plemel, intentions; Travis Reid and Mike Plemel, urnbearers. Music ministry was provided by the Sacred Heart Parish Choir. Honorary pallbearers were "all those who shared in Lottie's life." Interment will take place at St. Gregory R.C. Cemetery, St. Gregor, SK, at a later date. Memorial donations may be directed to either the Sacred Heart Cemetery Fund or the St. Gregory Cemetery Fund.
