ENGELE: Robert August 24, 1923 – March 5, 2017 The death of Robert Engele, 93 years of St. Mary’s Villa, Humboldt, occurred on March 5, 2017. Bob was born August 24, 1923 near Carmel to Julius and Mary (nee Huber) Engele.

The death of Robert Engele, 93 years of St. Mary’s Villa, Humboldt, occurred on March 5, 2017. Bob was born August 24, 1923 near Carmel to Julius and Mary (nee Huber) Engele. He attended Highgate School in the Carmel Area. Bob grew up on the family farm. He helped out there until his mother moved to St. Mary’s Villa then went to live with his brother Ted for a short time. In September of 1975 he moved to a group home in Humboldt and began working for Futuristic Industries. He did many jobs for Futuristic Industries including Humboldt Auction Mart, Town of Humboldt, carpentry and building floors. He was a good helper in the group home as well. He worked there until February 2011 when he moved to the Cudworth Nursing Home. On March 29, 2011 he was transferred to St. Mary’s Villa where he had previously attended the Adult Day Care Program and enjoyed seeing many familiar faces.  He happily remained there until his passing. Bob had many hobbies. He loved playing floor hockey and participated in the Special Olympics. He enjoyed music, dancing, watching hockey games, bowling, camping, and some traveling. He attended Camp Easter Seal at Watrous. Bob will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his sister Marie (John) Kramer of Calgary and brother Wilfred (Dianne) Engele of Humboldt and numerous nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by his parents Julius and Mary Engele; sisters and brothers: Frances (Hans) Apoloney; Ann Turnbull; Johanna (Tony) Niebrugge; Leo (Helen) Engele; Theodore (Elsa) Engele; Adolph (Anne) Engele and Alvin Engele. The Funeral Mass for Bob was held on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Humboldt celebrated by Fr. Greg Smith-Windsor.Interment will take place at a later date at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Carmel. Memorial donations in Bob’s memory may be made to St. Mary’s Villa Foundation or St. Augustine Parish Center.Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Malinoski & Danyluik Funeral Home, Humboldt.
