EBERT: Regina Adeline
听
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of their beloved mother, Regina Adeline (nee Egger) Ebert on Thursday, December 31, 2015. Regina was born on February 3, 1928 to Albert and Libby (nee Skalicky) Egger in Humboldt. She obtained a grade eight education and at the age of 13 Regina began working outside of the home. She worked at the Humboldt Co-op Creamery cleaning turkeys, chickens and was trained to candle eggs. Regina was then sent to candling stations in smaller towns such as Spalding, Alvena and Watson. As a young woman Regina loved to skate, she also was very talented and sewed, knitted, and crocheted this talent would later prove useful as she created many beautiful outfits for her children. At 15 years old Regina moved to Winnipeg and candled eggs for three years. She then returned to Saskatchewan and worked for a short period in Melfort then moved back to Lake Lenore where she waitressed at 鈥淟ibby鈥檚 Caf茅鈥. This proved to be the right move as it wasn鈥檛 long before she fell in love with a gentleman who frequented the caf茅, Martin Yeager, they were wed on October 11, 1948 at St. Anthony鈥檚 Parish in Lake Lenore. Together they raised a family of six on a farm just outside of Lake Lenore. Their home was surrounded with beautiful gladiolas and peonies. Regina kept busy with large gardens much to her children鈥檚 dismay due to the time they were required to snip and shell. She provided a loving and caring home for her family whom meant everything to her. She was an amazing cook and baker. She made many German dishes and to this day there are endless discussions about her cooking and what items were the best. From cream chicken dinners topped off with apple strudel, to overnight buns with fresh apricot jam, and the perfect Angel food cakes for her children鈥檚 birthdays. Regina led by example, she ran a 鈥渢ight ship鈥, being strict (it just took 鈥渢he look鈥 with raised eyebrow, and her children knew they had reached the limit) but she was fair and generous. She would make time for a good game of Pinochle or Bridge. In April 1966 her life changed forever when Martin died suddenly and she was left with six children ranging in age from 2 - 16. Due of her strong, courageous and independent personality she was able to survive continuing to farm and raise her children. In 1968 Regina married Alois Ebert and they continued to farm until 1976 when Regina and Alois retired and moved to Langley, BC. They later came back to Humboldt and built a new home. She enjoyed life to the fullest by traveling to many destinations with family such as the Bahamas, Europe, Italy, Cuba and many places in Canada and the USA to name a few. Regina loved to read and being the stubborn woman she was she would always finish a book even if she didn鈥檛 like it. Often she would have four books on the go and she could keep them all straight. Carolyn was her book supplier bringing her mom suitcases full of books. Her family were in awe of her abundance of knowledge and how she knew a little bit of everything and had a very sharp mind to accompany that knowledge right to the end of her life. Following Alois鈥檚 death in 1987 Regina moved to Chemanius, BC helping Ward and Kathy open Once Upon a Time Bed and Breakfast. Later she returned to Saskatoon to be closer to her grandchildren, children and siblings. She thoroughly enjoyed her condo on Main Street and spending time with friends and family. Unfortunately, due to failing health she had to leave her home and in 2013 moved to Caleb Village, in Humboldt. In May 2015 her health deteriorated further necessitating hospitalization and subsequent entry into long term care at Quill Plains Centennial Lodge in November 2015 until her passing. Regina was very much a private person and kept to herself as she never wanted to bother anyone, but she loved to be with her family as they were always number one to her. Regina will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her six children, 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren: INGRID Yeager and sons Matthew Main and Adam Main all of Toronto; MYLES (Kathy) Yeager of Stony Plain, AB and family Charlotte (Robin) Colliou of St. Albert, AB and children Ben, Alec and Tessa, Ferrah (Mike Schmidt) Yeager of Regina and children Maryn and Jake, Marty (Amy) Yeager of Muenster and children Merek, Sully and Maddix; MARA (Allan) Yarskie of Lake Lenore and family Brooke (Steve) Fletcher of Saskatoon and daughter Elsa, Carmen (Brad) Telford of Vancouver, BC and son鈥檚 Cole and Luke, Kyle Yarskie and Brett Yarskie (Kathleen) and daughter Samara all of Saskatoon; AARON (Annette) Yeager of Lake Lenore and family Craig (Melissa) Yeager of Humboldt and daughters Jorja and Kinsley, Michael Yeager (Tasha) and son Logan, Ryan Yeager (Chantale) all of Saskatoon and Regan Yeager (Riley) of Calgary; WARD (Kathy) Yeager of Chemainus, BC and family Jennifer (Joe) Giocoli of Saskatoon, Brandy Gladu (Nolan) of Langley, BC and Dusty Yeager (Morgan) of Calgary, AB and CAROLYN Yeager of Saanichton, BC; brothers and sisters: Edward Egger, Betty Riederer, Yvonne (Ron) Pellegrini all of Saskatoon, Lee Abel of Vegreville, AB and Daryl (Gwen) Abel of Humboldt; brothers-in-law: Bob Altrogge of Saskatoon, Jerry Wilde of Vegreville, AB and Bernie Abel of Saskatoon and听 by numerous nieces and nephews.
