It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Raymond John Schwingenschloegl, late of North Battleford, on February 19, 2013 at the age of 92 years. Raymond leaves behind to cherish his memory his children: Brenda (Max) Uhrmann, Gerald, Paul (Karen), and Martha Philippe; his grandchildren: Lila, Gerald (Tammy); Valerie (Dylan) Custaloe, Bonnie, Barry Uhrmann (Jessica), Bradley Uhrmann (Candace); his great-grandchildren Kendra, April, David, Kaidance, Oakley and Emmaleigh; his siblings Annie Stauber and Suzie Berube and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by: his wife Emma, his parents George and Frances, his siblings Mary Yager, George, Joseph, Julianna Lukan, Veronica Stauber, Carl, John, Andrew, Leo and Frances, and his grandchildren Jeffery and David. Raymond John Schwingenschloegl was born on February 10, 1921 in Faulda, Saskatchewan, the thirteenth and youngest child of George and Frances Schwingenschloegl. In 1932, he moved with his parents to Makwa. He farmed with his parents until he joined the armed forces. In 1945 he returned from the armed forces, and within that same year he became the loving husband to Emma Morgenstern from Loon Lake, Saskatchewan. Raymond was the father of four children: Brenda, Gerald, Paul, and Martha. He had eight grandchildren: Lila, Gerald, Valerie, Bonnie, David, Bradley, Barry and Jeffrey. Raymond also had six great grandchildren: Kendra, David, Oakley, Kaidance, Emmaleigh, and April. Raymond accepted the Lord Jesus at a watch night service in 1957. Six months later he was baptised in Makwa Lake while attending a camp meeting. Raymond and Emma resided on a farm in the Makwa district, and he loved working hard with his wife and family. For many years Raymond and Emma fostered several children. In 1973, Raymond started working for the Department of Highways, which prompted the move to North Battleford in 1975. After working thirteen years for the Department of Highways, he retired in 1986. Raymond enjoyed, loved, and cherished his grandchildren and great grandchildren very much. They brought a sparkle to his eyes whenever they came for a visit. Raymond also loved the following: reading the Bible, playing ball, picking berries, fishing, doing puzzles, playing games, taping hymns, listening to music, singing, and camping. Shortly after Emma had a stroke in January 2000, Raymond sold the house and resided in one of the cottages behind River Heights Lodge. With dedication and much love he spent as much time as possible with Emma. They became known as the lovebirds of the lodge. In 2010, he moved into the west side of the River Heights Lodge. Emma joined him on the west side, which allowed them to live practically side-by-side. Raymond became known as the prankster in the lodge: teasing family, caregivers, and anyone within his reach right up until his last day. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. The family wishes to express their gratitude for your many kindnesses evident in the thoughts and deeds and for your attendance at the service today. Special thanks to the staff at the River Heights Lodge for their loving care. The Funeral Service was held on Monday, February 25, 2013 from Territotial Drive Alliance Church, North Battleford, with Reverend Jan R. Cooke officiating. Herman Dyck gave the eulogy. Special music was provided by Lois Cooke as organist, Donna Lantz as soloist. Eddie Morgenstern provided the Prelude Music. Pallbearers were: Raymond Schwartz, Calvin Morgenstern, Gabe Craig, Neale Ronald, Neil Theisen, Gary Demmans, and George Schwartz. Interment took place at the Town of Battleford Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations in Raymond's memory may be made to the Gideon's Bible Society.
