LANGE: Norbert

The death of Mr. Norbert "Bert" Francis Lange of Humboldt occurred on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Humboldt District Hospital. Bert was born on June 21, 1937 at Cudworth to Rudolph and Maria (nee Bens) Lange. He grew up in Cudworth and attended Cudworth School and then Campion College in Regina for his grade 12. Bert enlisted in the Air Force and worked mainly in northern Canada as a Navigator, mapping the north. He also spent some time overseas doing the same kind of work. After five years, he left the Air Force and returned to Saskatchewan where he attended the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. In 1966, Bert joined his brother John and brother-in-law Harold Lufkin in an Auto Body Shop in Cudworth. After a number of years, Bert sold his part of the business to his brother John and pursued other interests. He worked at Weyerhaeuser in Prince Albert, Highline at Vonda and then CIM in Humboldt, where he worked until he finally retired, well past the age of 65. During his retirement years, he volunteered as the bartender in the Legion Club Room. He was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion for over 25 years. Bert was a very sociable person and liked being around other people, therefore he enjoyed activities that involved socializing such as bowling, curling and golfing. He was an avid fan of the Humboldt Broncos. Bert was a true gentleman who always had a ready smile and enjoyed a good laugh with his family and friends. Bert will be lovingly remembered by his two brothers and one sister: John (Bernadette) Lange of Cudworth, Ray (Aline) Lange of Chilliwack, BC and Mary Roberge of Victoria, BC; 12 nieces and nephews: Wayne, Rhonda, David, Linda, Michael, Karla, Amber, Margo, Scott, Kirk, Renee and Mark; and by numerous great nieces and nephews and many good friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Rudolph and Maria Lange; three sisters: Clara (Harold) Lufkin, Ella (Elwood) Greenfield, and Evelyn (Andy) Robert; brother, Rudolph (in infancy) and brother-in-law, Bud Roberge. The Funeral Service for Bert was held on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall, Â鶹ÊÓƵ Main St. Humboldt, SK., officiated by Rev. Al Hingley.
