WILLETTS: Nora Willetts was born on the farm near Annaheim, SK on December 28,1919 to Joesph and Sylvia (nee Beuttner) Schmidt. She attended school at Norwegian Grove St. James. She met Ed Willetts and they were married on July 7, 1939. They farmed in the Dalesford and St. Front area. Together they raised seven children. After the family farm burnt they moved to Rose Valley and then to Cranberry Portage, MB. There Nora was on of the head cooks at Frontier Collegiate School Division. She was also an avid seamstress and did some foster care. Nora enjoyed knitting and quilting. She knit many wool sweaters, socks and mitts and made numerous hand made quilts. She enjoyed fishing and boat rides. Nora belonged to the Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Square Dance Club. Nora and Ed moved back to Rose Valley where Ed passed away on September 14, 1981. Then faced with another tragedy her youngest son Alan was killed in a trucking accident on November 27, 1982. Nora then moved to Humboldt. She was able to do some traveling to Australia, Spain, Disneyland. Nora then met Alexander (Alistair) Fraser and they were married on October 22, 1993. Together they enjoyed many trips out to Alistair's family farm to check that things were being done right. They enjoyed curling, dancing and going to McDonalds for coffee to visit with friends. One of their favourite past times was playing cribbage while keeping a very close eye on the score of wins and losses. They also enjoyed many Casino bus trips and trips to B.C. to visit family and friends. Together they enjoyed watching curling, football and especially Nora's favourite baseball team "The Jays". Nora knew all the players on all the teams in the league. Alistair and Nora's faith was very important to them and they faithfully attended Westminster United Church. After Alistair passed away on October 2, 2010 Nora moved to Bethany Pioneer Village Assisted Living area of Birch Manor in Middle Lake. She enjoyed many visits from both families and friends. She had a great memory for people and places. Nora also had an incredible inner strength. After three months of failing health she passed away peacefully at the Humboldt District Hospital with family at her bedside on Sunday, January 20, 2013. Nora's warm and loving smile will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her six children: Charlie (Gail) Willetts of Crossfield, AB, Stan (Elaine) Willetts of Calgary, AB, Gordon (Margaret) Willetts of Winnipeg, MB, Linda Willetts (Lorne Hunter) of Vernon, BC, Shirley Gaitens of Canora and Lil (Rob) Schindel of Telkwa, BC; seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; Alistair's four children: Harold (Edna) Fraser of Humboldt, Cathy Fraser of Saskatoon, Doug (Nancy) Fraser of Mill Bay, BC and Myrna Chute of Saskatoon and Don Chute of Humboldt; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; four sisters: Hazel Walsh, Vina Pauls, Clare Blanchard and Ordie Schmidt all from BC; and by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Nora was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Sylvia Schmidt; two brothers: Thomas and Walter; first husband Ed Willetts; youngest son Alan; and second husband Alistair Fraser. Nora has requested to be cremated and a graveside service to be held at the Humboldt Public Cemetery in the spring. She will be buried with her son Alan.
