Mary SchwingenschloeglOctober 22, 1916 - October 8, 2011The death of Mrs. Mary Schwingenschloegl (nee Stauber) occurred at her residence, Bethany Pioneer Village, on Saturday, October 8, 2011. She was 94 years of age. Mary was born to Joseph and Dorothy (nee Gruber) Stauber on the family farm in the St. Bernard's district, west of the church. She attended St. Bernard's Country School and attained her grade 8. Following her education, Mary stayed home to help her family on the farm. A great part of her responsibility became caring for her infant niece, Geri, whose mother died at an early age. On September 7, 1936, she married Andrew Schwingenschloegl. With this union, Geri became part of the family. In the spring of 1937, Mary's new family moved to a homestead in the Crystal Springs area where they began their mixed farming operation. Mary and Andrew were blessed with six more children. In 1949, they moved to a farm northeast of Middle Lake, and then in 1960 they moved into town and continued to farm. Mary was the janitor for Middle Lake School from 1969 until her retirement in 1976. The Harry Ford Center in Humboldt became Mary's new home in 1997. In 2005, she moved to Birch Manor at Bethany Pioneer Village and eventually, Aspen Manor, until her death. Mary was a very social person who enjoyed time spent playing cards, bingo and visiting with family and friends.
