BUSCHMANN, Marie -
The peaceful death of Marie Ann Buschmann (nee Rath), 85 years of Airdrie, AB and formerly of Humboldt, SK, occurred on Saturday, April 20, 2013. Marie was born on July 25, 1927 in the Muenster district to John and Catherine (nee Voellmecke) Rath. She grew up on the homestead, living there until her marriage to Oscar Buschmann on November 27, 1947. For the first years of their marriage, Marie was busy raising their three children and taking care of their home. Marie became active in their family owned insurance business in June 1968, while Oscar was recuperating from a serious illness. Once he returned to work, she specialized in the real estate portion of the business. She had also taken 4 years of home decorating by correspondence for which she had written exams. Marie was an active member of the community, serving for 11 years as a member of the Humboldt Parks & Recreation Board. She was also one of the first board members of the Carlton Trail Community College, serving from 1973 - 1980. She served as treasurer for two years on the Humboldt & District Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Waldsea Lake Board for 10 years. Marie and Oscar had a cabin at Waldsea Lake and enjoyed spending time there with their children and grandchildren over the years. Oscar passed away in August 2003 and after some time, Marie moved to Airdrie, AB to be closer to her family. Marie will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her two surviving children, her son-in-law, nine grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren: Kathleen (Midge) McLellan of Airdrie, AB and family: Elizabeth (John) Kiss of Calgary, AB and Kirsteen McLellan of Airdrie, AB; Larry (Lynn) Kunaman of Calgary, AB and family: Wesley (Fabienne) Kunaman of Houston, Texas, USA; Jonathan Kunaman of Calgary, AB and Michael Kunaman of Calgary, AB; and Randy (Mary Ann) Buschmann of Okotoks, AB and family: Christine (Lee) Keller of Okotoks, AB; Rashelle (Richard) Martens of Okotoks, AB, Terra Buschmann of Okotoks, AB and Jordan (Fiance - Allisha Pelltier) Buschmann of Calgary, AB; her foster brother Barry (Vi) Hillis of Regina, Sk; and numerous nieces and nephews. Marie was predeceased by her parents, John and Catherine Rath; husband, Oscar Buschmann; daughter Lynn Kunaman; her brother Erwin (Lucille) Rath, and sister Dora (Irwin) Loehr. The Prayer Service for Marie was held on Friday, April 26, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. at Malinoski & Danyluik Funeral Home, Humboldt. The Funeral Mass was offered on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Humboldt, celebrated by Fr. Ephraim Mensah. Interment followed in St. Augustine Roman Catholic Cemetery, Humboldt. Memorial donations in Marie's name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Malinoski & Danyluik Funeral Home, Humboldt, Saskatchewan.
