SARAUER: Margaret

The peaceful passing of Margaret Marina (nee Ehalt) Sarauer, 98 years, of St. Mary鈥檚 Villa, Humboldt and formerly of Annaheim, occurred at her residence surrounded by all eight of her children on Wednesday, November 26, 2014. Margaret was born on February 26, 1916 to Alois and Theresa (nee Ebert) Ehalt in Minnesota, USA. At the age of two along with her family she came to Annaheim, SK. Margaret was the eldest of seven children. She obtained all of her education at the Annaheim School. After Grade 8 she stayed at home to help her mother until she met Arthur Sarauer and they were wed on June 28, 1937 at St. Ann Church. They started a home and farm of their own in the Annaheim district. This union was blessed with eight children. Margaret made a home full of love, food and fun for her family. A natural cook Margaret could whip up tasty dishes for her family especially a few favourites like dumplings and sauerkraut, fried chicken and flapper pie along with wonderful cookies and other baked treats. Margaret grew bountiful gardens and worked hard at preserving the produce for the cold winter months. She taught her children and grandchildren by example, about spirituality, morals and values. In 1982 Margaret and Art retired into the town of Annaheim where she enjoyed playing cards and bowling with friends. A long time member of the CWL Margaret was very active in her church and practiced her faith in everything she did. Margaret waited patiently for her annual mother daughters trips. Family was so very important to Margaret, they always came first and she always kept up with every addition to the family and took part in all the celebrations near and far. Margaret was a very spiritual, kind and gentle soul who brought sunshine and light to anyone she met. In 2004 Margaret moved to St. Mary鈥檚 Villa and spent three years there with Art. February 2012 she had an unexpected move to Caleb Village where she thoroughly enjoyed meeting new friends. In 2013 she returned to St. Mary鈥檚 Villa and enjoyed the amazing care she received. She was loved by many staff and loved them in return. She has been described as 鈥渢he perfect mix of sass and kindness鈥.
